COMPOSITION

Adlorin Tablet: Each film-coated tablet contains Desloratadine INN 5 mg.

PHARMACOLOGY

Desloratadine, the major active metabolite of Loratadine, is a non-sedating; long acting tricyclic histamine antagonist with selective H1-receptor histamine antagonist activity. Desloratadine also inhibits histamine release from human mast cell.

INDICATION
  • Allergic Rhinitis: Nasal and Non-nasal symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (seasonal and perennial).
  • Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria: Symptomatic relief of Pruritus, reduction in the number and size of hives in patients with Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Adult and adolescent over 12 years: 5mg daily.

In patients with liver and renal impairment: A starting dose of 5 mg every other day based on pharmacokinetic data.

CONTRAINDICATION

Adlorin (Desloratadine) is contraindicated in those patients who have hypersensitivity to this medication or to any of its ingredients.

PRECAUTION

Adlorin (Desloratadine) should be used with cautions in hepatic diseases and dose reduction may be necessary in renal impairment. Caution may be required in epilepsy.

SIDE EFFECTS

Adverse effects of Adlorin (Desloratadine) are mild and transient in nature. These include dry mouth, headache and fatigue.

DRUG INTERACTION

No clinically important drug interactions have been reported.

USE IN PREGNANCY AND LACTATION

There is no experience of the use of Adlorin (Desloratadine) during pregnancy. Adlorin (Desloratadine) presents in human milk although not known to be harmful.

STORAGE

Store in a cool and dry place, protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
