Antikof Syrup
Guaifenesin 100mg/5ml, Levomenthol 1.1mg/5ml, Diphenhydramine 14mg/5ml

Composition
Each 5 ml syrup contains Guaifenesin BP 100 mg, Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride BP 14 mg and Levomenthol BP 1.1 mg.

Pharmacology
Antikof preparation is a mixture of expectorant, decongestant and antihis tamine. The liquid contains Guaifenesin which is an expectorant. It helps loosen mucus (phlegm) from the lungs and make it easier to cough up. Diphenhydramine which is an antihis tamine that helps relieve coughing, dry secretions in the nose and chest. Levomenthol which helps to breathe more easily by relieving conges tion.

Indication
Antikof is indicated for the symptomatic relief of upper respiratory tract disorders accompanied by productive cough.

Dosage and Administration
Adults & Children over 12 years 2 teaspoonful (10 ml) 4 times a day or as directed by the physicians. Do not take more than 8 teaspoonful syrup in 24 hours.
Use in Children & Adolescents: The efficacy and safety of Guaifenesin have not been es tablished in pediatric patients and adolescents.

Contraindication
This combination is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Guaifenesin, Diphenhydramine or Levomenthol. If Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIS) have been taken in the las t two weeks this combination should not be taken.

Warnings and precautions
Patients suffering from liver, kidney & pros tate problems should avoid this combination. Alcohol mus t be avoided. Patients taking this combination need to be careful while driving or operating machinery.

Side Effect
Side effects may include swelling of the face, lips and/or tongue, allergic reactions, numbness, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, dry mouth/nose/throat, nausea or vomiting etc.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
There are no specific data on use of this combination during pregnancy & lactation.

Drug Interactions
Taking certain MAO inhibitors with this medication may cause a serious (possibly fatal) drug interaction. If any other medicines like minor Tranquilizers, Barbiturates and Codeine are taken, caution should be exercised.

Overdose
In cases of over dosage, hospital admission is strongly advised. An overdose of this preparation may result in drowsiness, blurred vision, increased heart rate, confusion. Other symptoms may include dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, unsteadiness, high blood pressure and hallucinations

Storage
Store below 30°C, protect from light & moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
