COMPOSITION

Each Tablet contains Thiamine Hydrochloride BP 5 mg, Riboflavin BP 2 mg, Pyridoxine hydrochloride BP 2 mg & Nicotinamide BP 20 mg

PHARMACOLOGY

B-Plex contains the most important members of the vitamin B group in pure form and in therapeutically balanced proportions. The members of the vitamin B group contained in B-Plex are components of enzyme systems that regulate various stages of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism, each of the components playing a specific biological role. Deficiency of B vitamin causes glossitis, stomatitis, cheilosis, polyneuritis, beriberi, pellagra and vascularization of cornea.

INDICATION

B-Plex is indicated for prophylactic or therapeutic nutritional supplementation in physiologically stressful conditions. These include: Conditions causing depletion, or reduced absorption or bioavailability of essential B-vitamins manifested by glossitis, stomatitis, cheilosis, beriberi and polyneuritis, the maintenance of normal growth and health during the early days of children, apathy and anorexia in elderly patients, prevention of vitamin deficiencies, particularly when depletion is suspected – pregnancy and lactation, patients on restricted diets.

DOSE AND ADMINISTRATION

B-Plex Tablet: Usual recommended dose is 1-2 capsule 3 times daily or as directed by the physician.

B-Plex Syrup: 2-3 teaspoonful daily or as directed by the physician.

CONTRAINDICATION AND PRECAUTION

B-Plex is contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any of its components.

SIDE EFFECTS

Adverse reactions have been reported with specific vitamins and minerals, but generally at levels substantially higher than those in B-Plex. However, allergic and idiosyncratic reactions are possible at lower levels. Iron, even at the usual recommended level has been associated with gastrointestinal intolerance in some patients.

USE IN PREGNANCY AND LACTATION

It is safe to use B-Plex in pregnancy and lactation.

DRUG INTERACTION

As little as 5 mg pyridoxine daily can decrease the efficacy of levodopa in the treatment of parkinsonism. Therefore, B-Plex is not recommended for patients undergoing such therapy.

STORAGE

Store in a cool & dry place below 300C, protect from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

B-Plex Syrup: Bottle containing 100 ml syrup.
